Pros and ons of being a freelance trainer in Corona times

Pros of being a freelance trainer in corona times.

1.      People are now open to online learning and are approaching freely to have session for employees and self.

2.      Trainer accessibility: since there are no geometric or contractual boundaries for the trainer or organization.

3.      Trainings are short and much crisper with few breaks. Feedback is immediate.

4.      Logistics are out of the play, so can be scheduled at short notice for any location

5.      Cost of training is minimal and additional cost is 0.

Cons of being a freelance trainer in Corona times

1.      Employee engagement seems to have replaced employee training.

2.      Most organizations are asking for free training for employee engagement.

3.      Companies are scheduling smaller sessions with multiple trainers on different topics for free. This is unethical but cannot be checked.

4.      Zoom or other platform, while the simplest can be a bummer sometimes. Not being able to connect, power failure while in session are some realities I have faced.

5.      Past payments for work done before corona haven’t shown up yet. While organizations continue to pay employees on roll, trainers and consultants are waiting in hope that the next free training done to maintain good relations will yield. I did a few trainings for free, to build network and maintain relations but have actively discouraged free trainings.

What are your thoughts as a freelance trainer in this time?
